Nok Hong Kham Naga Silk Scarves

Nok Hong Kham Naga Silk ScarvesIn the design of these scarves we wanted to provide a minimalist pattern to provide contrast to the natural dyed silk that we only use in our brand of Nok Hong Kham textiles. The design featured here is taken from the intertwining naga design that originally came from an old Tai Daeng (Red Tai) ceremonial head cloth.

There are also bands of a protective diamond design. Mary Connors writes in her book Lao Textiles and Traditions that "the diamond or lozenge shape is an important, powerful shape and yet one open to a variety of interpretations. It is a good example of an ancient symbol common to many cultures which acquires additional meanings with the arrival of outside influences. Some scholars link this shpae with fertility - the navel or womb - while others see it as part of the Buddhist-Hindu cosmology. In India, the lozenge reflects 'the diamond being'."

If you're looking for a scarf with Lao design motifs that is not overpowering, these scarves are perfect. And like all our silk scarves with their soft and supple texture, you’ll not only look great, you'll feel great too! Our Nok Hong Kham Naga Silk Scarves are the perfect accessory to add color and personalized style to any outfit and are a great gift idea to introduce someone to the artistry of Lao weaving.
